S-80 Plus-Class Submarine

The S-80 plus class is a Spanish class of a series of submarines, of new technological design. They feature air-independent propulsion (AIP); this system will ensure their ability to remain in an area for a very long period without being detected and their ability to operate in possible conflicts zones.

The Spanish Ministry of Defense announce the development of a Spanish fuel cell due to the high cost of the current SPC. The program is called Medusa 300 and develop a 300 kW prototype. The oxygen and fuel flow rates directly determined by the demand for power. The AIP power in the S-80 submarine is at least 300kw. A permanent magnet electric motor moves a fixed propeller of a special design that does not create cavitations at high speed.

One of the main requirements for theses enclosures that control the operation of SPC, was to adapt to the lack of space inside of submarines and with all the necessary security on board.

After checking all the requirements for the project, we use a special design for a customized wall enclosure, Luxor Series and terminal box, Geo Series, all of them in AISI 316L stainless steel for marine environments with IP66 (against dust, humidity and water).
